I was born and raised In West Dundee, Illinois, a small town 45 miles northwest of Chicago. I developed a love of books from my mother and spent many days exploring the library and checking out Happy Hollister books. Then I moved on to Agatha Christie- but only the books with Hercule Poirot in them!
I was obsessed with a good mystery and I still am today, though I'm willing to read a good detective story or a good romance.
Despite my love of getting lost in a book, I was drawn to medicine. I first attended Iowa State University where I obtained a degree in zoology. Go Clones!
Next I moved on to Iowa City where I studied to be a physician assistant. Go Hawks!
My first job was in Peoria, IL in a cardiovascular and thoracic surgery practice. I had the good fortune to work with some great surgeons. It was a good thing that I loved the people I worked with because I saw them all the time! Sometimes 65-70 hours a week, and more.
Getting on in years, I looked for a position where I could get a little bit of sleep at night. I have been working in the field of urology for many years now.
I found I had a little more time to do some things for myself. First and foremost, I got a dog. I'd always wanted one and now I had more time to spend with one. It's one of the best things I've ever done, and my little puggle girl is spoiled rotten.
Second, I was able to do more reading. I was in awe of good characters and a great story, how it was developed and crafted. Eventually, I made up stories in my mind. In time, I sat down in front of my laptop and started to type.
I epublished my first novel, At Second Sight, in August 2013. I've completed a second and I've found an agent willing to take it on. I have various other stories in the works. Hopefully you'll get to see all of them some day!
